It's not written in iambic pentameter.
Not that there's anything wrong a good iamb now and then, but I thought it would be best to join the trend of books, uh, not written in iambic pentameter.
That said, portions of an early draft were indeed written in unrhymed iambic pentameter. Here's a sample:
At kindergarten once there came a day
When Dono and his friends did play with blocks
A spider on the wall, a young girl screamed
And despite his fear of creepy eight-leg’d beasts
Our arachnophobic hero squished it dead
